Picture Funchal behind you, the Atlantic ahead, a drink in hand, and Madeira’s south-west coast slowly turning from gold to copper, then deep red. This private sunset trip takes you from Funchal to Câmara de Lobos, then out beneath the dramatic cliffs of Cabo Girão. The boat is entirely yours for up to 5 guests, with a local skipper, drinks, food on board and drone footage included. Departure time changes with the season so you catch the best of the sunset, usually around 18:00 in winter and 19:00 in summer, from Marina do Funchal. THE ROUTE We head west along the coast from Funchal to Câmara de Lobos, the fishing village Churchill came to paint, then continue beneath Cabo Girão, where 580 metres of sheer basalt drop straight into the Atlantic. This is where the drone goes up over the boat and the drinks and food come out on deck. The light shifts from gold to copper, then deep red over the ocean, before we turn back towards Funchal with the city lights ahead. TWO OPTIONS 2h = €400 Turns back at Cabo Girão. 2h30 = €500 Continues past Feijã dos Padres to Ribeira Brava before turning back. By late afternoon, the water has already lost some of the warmth of the day, so this one is all about cruising, the coastline and the sunset. It follows the same coast in the morning or afternoon, with swimming and paddle stops at Feijã dos Padres and Ribeira Brava. GOOD TO KNOW One flat price for the whole boat, not per person. The price is the same whether there are two of you or five. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes before departure at Marina do Funchal, pontoon C, near the statue. Departure times may vary slightly depending on the time of year so we can make the most of the sunset. Trips are also weather-dependent and may be rescheduled for your safety and comfort.
